Nutrition Counseling: Frequently Asked Questions
Our Registered Dietitians provide expert Nutrition Counseling via telehealth for patients in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio.
Can a Registered Dietitian help if I’m taking a GLP-1 medication?
Yes. Seeing a dietitian is an important part of using GLP-1 medications safely and effectively. Dietitians help you establish an eating pattern that supports adequate nutrition while on GLP-1 medications, with attention to protein intake, meal timing, and reduces common side effects like nausea or digestive discomfort.
We work alongside your medical provider to ensure your nutrition plan supports your intentions while on a GLP-1 medication.
Who can benefit from seeing a dietitian?
Anyone—and everyone. Our nutrition counseling support individuals and families across all stages of life, including chronic conditions, everyday wellness concerns, and picky eating.
If food affects your life, a dietitian can help.

Do you work with my Doctor?
Absolutely! We prioritize continuity of care by collaborating closely with your doctor.
Can I see one of your dietitians if I live in another state?
To ensure the highest standard of care and comply with state laws, our dietitians provide telehealth services to clients physically located in Kentucky, Tennessee, or Ohio at the time of their appointment.
Is seeing a dietitian covered by insurance?
Yes. Most major insurance plans cover nutrition counseling at 100% with no out-of-pocket cost when provided by a Registered Dietician. We currently verify benefits for patients in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio before your first visit so there are no surprises.”
Do I need a referral to see a dietitian?
In most cases, no referral is needed to see a dietitian. However, Medicare does require a physician’s referral for coverage. Our team is happy to coordinate with your doctor’s office to make this process seamless for you.
How often will we meet?
There’s no standard schedule. How often you meet is personalized based on your needs, progress, and clinical recommendations. Your dietitian will work with you to determine a cadence that supports your care and adjusts as your needs change.
What is telehealth and how does it work?
Telehealth means meeting with your dietitian through a secure video appointment—similar to a Zoom call—so you can receive care from home, work, or wherever you’re comfortable.
We provide all services via telehealth, which allows for greater flexibility, easier follow-ups, and consistent care without travel time.
